Cayela Wimberly of Norfolk Southern named to Operation Lifesaver, Inc. board
WASHINGTON, DC, October 16, 2014 – Cayela Wimberly, grade crossing safety director for Norfolk Southern Corporation, has been named to the board of directors of Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), OLI President and CEO Joyce Rose announced.
“Cayela Wimberly’s expertise with highway-rail crossing safety issues, paired with her technical background in electrical engineering, communications and signaling, will make her a great asset to the Operation Lifesaver board as they work to advance our rail safety education mission,” said Rose.
Rose noted that the OLI board of directors is the governing body of the organization, responsible for determining OLI’s overall mission, priorities and direction and providing oversight to ensure that programs and services are carried out effectively.
A native of Macon, Ga., Wimberly has held several positions during her 10-year career at Norfolk Southern Corporation, mainly in the Engineering – Communications and Signals Department. Her experience includes serving as C&S maintenance supervisor, highway crossing signals engineer, and administrator, grade crossing program. Wimberly also serves on AREMA Committee 36 and is a National Council of Uniform Traffic Control Devices technical committee member. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering technology and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Georgia Southern University.
