Operation Lifesaver, Inc. Releases 2021 Annual Report in Digital and PDF Formats
WASHINGTON, DC, October 13, 2022 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), the national rail safety education nonprofit, has released its 2021 Annual Report in digital and PDF formats. The interactive, digital version of the 2021 Annual Report allows users to view videos and other materials; the PDF version presents the information in a downloadable format.
Every three hours a person or vehicle is hit by a train in the United States. OLI’s mission is to empower the public to make safe choices when driving or walking near tracks and trains.
OLI’s 2021 Annual Report has information on new rail safety materials, grant projects and events throughout the year, including the organization’s first-ever Virtual Leadership Conference, which drew more than 360 registrants. Other highlights of the report are the 2021 audited financial statement and results from the annual observance of Rail Safety Week, as well as recognition of Operation Lifesaver’s dedicated volunteers.
“Thanks to the active engagement of Operation Lifesaver’s volunteers, state programs, board members, public and private partners, 2021 saw the organization thrive in the post-pandemic normal,” said Operation Lifesaver Inc. Executive Director Rachel Maleh. “I am proud of OLI’s work, and of the staff who made it happen,” she stated.

About Operation Lifesaver
Operation Lifesaver, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1972, is a non-profit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and preventing trespassing on or near railroad tracks. In 1986 the non-profit Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) national office was created to help support and coordinate efforts of state Operation Lifesaver programs, saving lives by sharing rail safety messages with audiences across the U.S. and beyond. OLI programs are active in 47 states and the District of Columbia. A national network of trained volunteers gives free rail safety presentations encouraging safe behavior near tracks and trains. OLI’s free Railroad Investigation and Safety Course (RISC) provides critical information for first responders when managing incidents around tracks and trains.
